Jowita Bydlowska, is not only our house photographer, she is magical and talented and if she wasn’t our friend we would be totally jealous of her. She is down to earth, frank and totally pregnant, we generally frown on that kind of state, but couldn’t be happier in her case. This is what she says this about herself – Jowita is a writer and photographer. Her (personal) musings can be found here and her pictures are here. She is here.
The Pomegranate Questionnaire
1. Can you tell us a little about what you do?
I write (two blogs, a book, for work, freelance) and I take photos. I am also currently building a human baby
2. Why that?
I can’t do anything else as well as I do those things. I like to be good at what I do. Writing is the closest to my heart. But we’ll see how that places once the human baby is finished building.
3. Does it pay the bills? Does it matter?
Yes. I write for living and for fun. It matters – it’s important to one’s self-esteem and one’s bank account, of course. I write less fun stuff (journalism stuff) to get paid, which in turn supports my fun writing (fiction, creative non-fiction). Building babies doesn’t pay the bills. Unless they grow up to be generous and grateful millionaires.
4. What book did you last read?
Wetlands by Charlotte Roche. I’m reading it right now… Before that? This question should say: What good book did you last read? Because last book I read was bad and I don’t want to give it any attention.
5. What is your idea of prefect happiness?
I am tempted to answer it in the same way Russell Smith did but I won’t because I’m less of a bitch than he is. Perfect happiness is: Riding a horse in the fields in the summer. Snuggling up to my lover after we both come hard. Taylor Head beach in Nova Scotia. Getting published.
6. What achievement are you most happy about so far?
My photography and people’s reaction to it. My essay that’s being published in the next alphabet city. Also, getting sober. And getting happier.
7. What is your most treasured possession?
My laptop, my camera, a pair of Betsey Johnson heels, a painting of nail polish bottles my sister did, and some of my naughty clothes from Northbound.
8. Have you swooned in the cinema?
No, never.
9. Do you have a hero?
Yes. My grandmother. She giggles.
10. What is your motto or favourite expression or both?
Don’t really have one… But I try to never lie to myself.
